The Chüechlihus Regional Museum offers interactive educational programs for school classes that make the museum an attractive extracurricular place of learning and history education. The offers are aimed at teachers and pupils from the region as well as school classes visiting the Emmental.

The curriculum 21-compatible offers are created in such a way that the pupils are immersed in the history of the Emmental and in individual topics of the permanent exhibition in the regional museum, but we also – by the pupils dealing with their own history and their place in the Emmental – create references to the present.

The school offers of the Regional Museum Chüechlihus:

  • refer to Emmental culture(good) with reference to today.
  • are in tune with the times: dialogical & interactive.
  • are level-appropriate offers, adapted to Curriculum 21 (Cycle 1-3 and Secondary 2)
  • are worked out with experts.
  • are carried out by cultural mediators.
  • are fixed offers that can be customized.
  • The mornings at the museum can be booked exclusively for schools.
  • There are special conditions for schools from the Emmental region.
  • Travel vouchers from the Canton of Berne can be applied for.

Please book your visit at least two weeks before the desired date. Teachers receive free admission to the museum in preparation for their visit. Please register your visit when you make your booking request. Thank you very much.

Forest, wood & energy workshop

What actually is energy? What significance does the forest have for the Oberemmental? And how are energy and forests connected? Let’s find out!

In this educational program at the Chüechlihus Regional Museum, pupils discover the connections between forests, wood and energy through various approaches. They reflect on their existing knowledge in a dialogical and interactive way and learn or deepen specific new content with a focus on the Oberemmental. However, they also come into contact with more overarching topics, such as the challenges for the forest of the 21st century or energy conversion. The offer combines scientific content with knowledge of historical events and current topics in the region and is ideal as an introduction to the topic of “forests” or “wood as a source of energy”.

The workshop is suitable for school classes from the region as well as for pupils who are in Emmental as part of a school trip or a project week.

Forest, wood & energy experts

As part of the workshop, the students master six different challenges on the topics of forest, wood and energy as a class, whereby the students can achieve up to 10 points for each challenge. This means that the class can collect up to 60 points during the entire workshop and thus prove itself as a “forest, wood and energy expert”. We congratulate our “Forest, Wood & Energy Experts” on their great scores.

Ranking of the school classes

  1. Place: 5th/6th Class blue, Thierachern with 49 points in May 2024
  2. 3rd place: 3rd-6th grade Gohlgraben, Langnau i.E. with 47 points in January 2024
  3. Place: 4th/5th Class, Dotzigen with 46 points in May 2024

Out of competition: 3rd/4th grade Höhenweg, Langnau i.E. with 35 points in September 2023 (test class with 2 fewer challenges than the other classes)

Workshop HISTORY

Field hockey stick and salt grater? Wooden shingles and ceramic bowls? Unicorn and Emmental?
What does all this have to do with me and what does the time in which I live actually mean?

In this interactive workshop at the Chüechlihus Regional Museum, participants will come into contact with the history of the Oberemmental, build a bridge to their own personal history and create something that complements what is already there. They deal with objects and their attributions of meaning, with questions in the here and now, with their identity and their place in the shared history, present and future.

Chüechlitiger

The offer is currently only available in German.

The Chüechlitiger accompanies young people aged around 8-12 years and younger children with the help of adults on a journey into the past of the Oberemmental. The young people help the museum mascot to solve various puzzles: they look for clues, combine, draw, glue, stamp, craft and do handicrafts – until they find the solution and collect the little surprise that awaits them at the end.

With the ‘Chüechlitiger’ children’s trail, youngsters can immerse themselves in the history of the Oberemmental and discover the permanent exhibition of the regional museum in a playful way. It is a discovery tour for the curious. The Chüechlitiger is intended to encourage people to experience history and connect it with their own lives in the here and now.

The color brochure “Chüechlitiger” can be purchased at the museum ticket office (incl. craft materials, instructions and several surprises to take home – from 2 pieces with reduction).
The children’s course is suitable both for individual visits – with the family or as an excursion with the sponsored child – and for group visits, e.g. for a visit to the museum. School classes from cycle 2 (from 3rd grade) or children’s birthday parties.

The “Emmental School Travel Destination” project was launched in 2022 by the Emmental School Travel Destination interest group and made possible by the federal government’s new regional policy (NRP). The aim was to make pedagogically valuable offers from the Emmental visible. The platform helps teachers to discover attractive offers for school classes in the region, making it easier to plan school trips, excursions, project weeks and country school weeks. Schulreiseland has been online since spring 2024 and is available to all teachers and organizers of trips with school classes.

The interest group “IG Schulreiseland Emmental” consists of various stakeholders from the tourism, culture and education sectors. The IG steering group consists of members of the supporting companies:
